Overview
There is a low pressure system over the Great Lakes region and Midwest. A stationary front is stretched South along the Mississippi River valley and into the Southern Plains. A second low is over South Texas and continuing to bring a risk for heavy rain and potential flash flooding to parts of the lower- Mississippi River valley. A dissipating warm front is stalled out over the Dakotas and will continue to fizzle out over our area.

Discussion
Across the area today, a weak trough continued to fizzle out. This feature was a warm front that dissipated and left hit & miss clouds across the Dakotas. Central & Western North Dakota saw temperatures that climbed well into the 50s. Eastern ND saw much cooler highs. Minot’s temperature climbed to 59, breaking the previous high of 56 set back in 1977.

Overnight we will continue to see fair to partly cloudy skies with temperatures falling well into the 20s for much of our area. Through the rest of the work week and into this weekend, we will continue to see plenty of sunshine with temperatures continuing to warm. Daytime highs will climb through the 60s and to either side of 70 Friday & Saturday. The beginning of the work week will bring more cloud cover and our next chance for precip will be at the end of our 7day planner. As temperatures climb into the 70s we will be approaching record breaking temperatures, again.

Through the rest of tonight & Thursday
Overnight , expect fair to partly cloudy skies as temperatures fall through the 30s, settling in the 20s. Winds will become light and variable as they swing around to the South & Southwest.
Tomorrow, we will see plenty of sunshine with temperatures climbing through the 50s and well into the 60s. Winds will be light to moderate and out of the South.

7day planner
A weak front will continue to fizzle out over the Dakotas. In lieu of this feature, skies will clear out and remain mostly clear while under the influence of a ridge of high pressure. Temperatures will continue to climb into a pleasantly warm range, through the rest of the work week and into the weekend. By Friday and Saturday, temperatures will climb to either side of 70. Cloud cover will start to work its way back into the forecast as we wrap up this weekend. The next chance for any rain will be next week.
