Weather Blog Tuesday 12/1

9:15pm
Overview
There is a low pressure system over the Upper-Midwest & Great Lakes Region. This low will continue to move NE bringing snow and rain to affected areas as it moves away from the Dakotas. In lieu of this system, we will begin to see changes. A broad ridge of high pressure to our West will move over our region and remain anchored over our area through the rest of the work week.

Discussion
In the wake of a departing low, expect clearing skies followed by temperatures falling well into the teens, tonight. Parts of the state that received substantial snow and saw some melting today, may see a refreeze tonight as temps fall well below freezing. During the past 36 hours we have received snowfall accumulations ranging from a Trace to 6" across the state. The heaviest totals were in the SE corner of North Dakota.

As this low moves NE and away from our area, we will continue to be affected by it. Temperatures will continue to fall through the overnight hours. Wind Chills will be in the single digits and near/below zero by Wednesday morning. Through the next couple of days, we will see plenty of sunshine with in & out clouds and low chances for any snow/rain. A warming trend will set up through the rest of the week and this pattern will continue well into the weekend.

Through the rest of tonight & Wednesday
Overnight, we will continue to see clearing skies followed by temps falling through the 20s and well into the teens across much of the state. Couple the cooler temps with a light to moderate wind out of the NW & West and it will feel around 10 degrees colder than it actually is. That will bring chills well into the single digits and near zero.
Tomorrow will bring with it, plenty of sunshine and abundant warming. Temps will climb into a range slightly above average for this time of the year (BIS avg. 1/31) Highs will top out well into the 30s with a light to moderate wind that will become gusty at times.

 7day planner
In advance of an approaching ridge of high pressure, we will see skies become clear tonight with plenty of sunshine on Wednesday. The later half of the work week will come with a passive cold front that will move through the Dakotas, early Thursday. This front will bring more clouds. However, precip chances will remain low. We will see a few passing flurries/mix during the overnight and morning hours. Temperatures will gradually climb well into the 40s by this weekend and remain in an unseasonably warm range through the remainder of the 7day planner. The highest chance for rain is on Wednesday Night/Thursday Morning (and that chance is very low).
