Overview
There is a broad ridge of high pressure that is anchored over the Northern & Central Plains and the Mississippi River Valley. A low pressure system is moving out of New England and over the Atlantic Ocean. A secondary low is over the Gulf of Alaska. This system is affecting the West Coast with rain and some snow/mix. A large swath of cloud cover is just to our west and blanked over Montana.

Discussion
Under the influence of this ridge of high pressure, we will continue to see plenty of sunshine (mixed with in & out clodus) through the next couple of days. Today, temps were above average and (coupled with sunshine) allowed for some of the snowpack to melt. Where melting was abundant, expect water to refreeze, tonight. Where the snowpack is still present, fog may develop and become patchy. Tomorrow a ridge of high pressure will remained anchored over the state. This means that our current pattern of unseasonably warm temps coupled with plenty of sunshine will continue. There will be some in & out clouds through the day. The low over the Gulf of Alaska will remain a dominant feature on the map in that area. What this means for the Northern Plains is "Spin-off Lows".

Through the next several days we will see a series of lows begin to develop on the Lee side of the Rocky Mountains. These lows will move East through Canada. As the lows stay well to our North, cold fronts will extend South into the Dakotas. The tail end of these fronts will be very weak and more closely resemble short-waves as they pass over our area. Clouds will be associated with these fronts. However, precip chances will stay very low through the beginning of the work week.

Through the rest of tonight & Friday
Overnight temps will fall well below zero with in & out clouds and developing fog for parts of our area. temps Friday morning will hover around the 20 degree mark. We are looking at upper teens and lower 20s across the state. Expect plenty of sunshine warming temps through the seasonable range and into the 40s. Winds will be gusty for some of us and there will be some in & out cloud cover.

 7day planner
The rest of the work week will bring continued warming temps with plenty of sunshine and in & out clouds. Temperatures wil climb into the mid 40s by Friday & Saturday. Precip chances saty low through the 7day planner with no significant accumulation expect as two weak fronts move through our area (Saturday morning & Tuesday Night).
