9:00pm
Overview
There is a broad ridge of high pressure over much of the Ohio River Vally, Great Lakes Region & Midwest. A stationary front is stretched over the Gulf Coast and a weak low is over the Northern Plains.
Discussion
Across the area today we saw plenty of sunshine with unseasonably warm temperatures. This afternoon and evening we have been seeing increasing clouds from the western side of our state. Scattered showers with a few thunderstorms will continue to move west to east, through the Dakotas. Temperatures today, topped out well above average with highs in the 60s & 70s state wide. The warm are on the map was the western fringe of the viewing area. Sidney & Buffalo both got up to 79 and Baker reached a high temp of 78.
Across the Northern Plains, there is a ridge of high pressure that is moving East. A pair of low pressure systems connected by a front is moving into Western ND. A low pressure system to our southwest will move through the Dakotas, bringing a chance for rain and a few storms tonight. This system is not expected to produce severe weather and rain chances will taper off through the morning hours. We will see some clearing tomorrow with variable winds, swinging around to the East. A second weak low will move through the state, late. This second system will bring showers & thunderstorms through our area and the rest of the Dakotas. An active & unsettled weather pattern will continue through Friday, Saturday & Sunday. There will be a low risk for severe weather but I will keep an eye on it for you.
Rain chances will be off & on through the rest of the work week and weekend as a series of weak lows continues to affect the Dakotas.
All together, expect in & out clouds with scattered showers & thunderstorms during the next few days. Temperatures will gradually fall due to lack of sunshine, rain-cooling and slightly cooler air. The first two systems will move through the Dakotas tonight & Thursday night/Friday.
