Overview
There is a low pressure system over the Great Lakes region that will continue to move East. A different system still has a cold front stretched south, along the Atlantic Coastline. Another, low is developing over the northern Gulf of Mexico and Gulf Coast. A weak clipper is over the Northern Plains.
Discussion
Today we saw mostly cloudy skies with in & out cover and a few light showers. Temperatures were in a seasonable range until a warm front moved into Western ND, during the afternoon. High temperatures were well into the 50s for much of our area. Across the state, others saw 30s & 40s.

Across the Northern Plains, there is a weak clipper moving through North Dakota and a ridge of high pressure to our South. There is some light precip associated with this quick moving low. Through the evening we will continue to see scattered light precip, but not all of it will reach the ground and only a few areas will be affected. Nevertheless, some of us will get a little wet as we go into tonight. The majority of Central & Western ND will not be affected much by this weak system. Through the weekend we will see plenty of sunshine with temperatures warming well above average for this time of the year. Saturday night & Sunday, another weak clipper will move through the area. This quick moving system will bring a chance for rain with a few thunderstorms before we see an even warmer air mass with in & out clouds affect the Dakotas.
Headlines during the next few days include a few isolated snow/rain showers, followed by gradually clearing skies tonight. This weekend will bring more sunshine and a warming trend.
Through the rest of tonight & Saturday
A weak clipper will continue moving Southeast, into the upper- Midwest. Skies will gradually clear out overnight with winds becoming light to moderate and swinging around to the NW. Saturday will bring more sunshine with in& out clouds and temps climbing into a pleasantly warm range. Highs will be on either side of 60 with some of our area climbing well into the 60s. Winds will calm down a bit until another clipper moves into our area, overnight.
7day planner
After a round of low precip chances, we will see our weather pattern calm down as we go into the weekend. This weekend will bring plenty of sunshine with warming temps. Daytime highs will climb well above average (avg 49/25) and we will see pleasant conditions through most of the weekend. Our next chance for scattered showers will be Sunday and our next front will wait until the middle of next week. Temperatures will be in the 50s & 60s during the next 7 days with a few 70s possible. Unless temps climb well into the 70s we will not see record breaking highs across most of the state.
Tonight, expect partly cloudy skies with gradual clearing and a cool feel. Lows 24-33 with a NW wind 10-20mph and calming. Chills will be in the teens & 20s with a 10% chance for precip.
Saturday, we will see plenty of sunshine with in & out light clouds and warming temps. Highs 56-65 and pleasantly warm with a NW/S wind 5-15mph.
Saturday night, fair to partly cloudy skies and a mild feel with temps above freezing. Lows 35-42 and not as cool with a S/W wind 2-12mph.
Sunday, we will see partly cloudy skies with in & out cover and a chance for scattered rain. Highs 64-70 with a W/N wind 10-20mph G30.
Sunday night, expect a cool feel with fair to partly cloudy skies. Lows will be on either side of 30 with a North wind 5-15mph.
